This study aimed to examine the extent to which telecommunications companies perceive the importance of applying the Six Sigma methodology in enhancing the quality of internal control. A primary research question was posed, supported by several sub-questions focusing on key elements of the Six Sigma approach: top management commitment and support, feedback mechanisms, continuous improvement, processes and systems, and human resources and training.
The study adopted an inductive approach to review previous literature and employed an analytical method through statistical tools to present and analyze the data collected via a questionnaire distributed to telecommunications companies operating in Libya. The findings revealed a general awareness of the significance of implementing the Six Sigma methodology to improve internal control quality within Libyan telecom companies. However, the level of awareness varied across the different components, particularly in areas related to feedback and measurement. The study recommended the need to raise awareness among top management about the importance of adopting Six Sigma standards to achieve performance quality and enhance the effectiveness of internal control. It also emphasized the importance of improving the technological infrastructure to support measurement indicators and providing appropriate statistical tools and software aligned with Six Sigma principles.
