Plagiarism Policy
At the Journal of Economics and Political Science (JOPS), we uphold strict standards of academic integrity and view plagiarism as a serious ethical violation. To ensure the originality of published work, we enforce a comprehensive plagiarism policy that covers the following points:
Forms of Plagiarism:
-
Direct copying of text, data, or ideas without citation.
-
Paraphrasing or rephrasing without acknowledgment.
-
Self-plagiarism by reusing one’s own work without citation.
-
Verbatim or near-verbatim translation without appropriate citation.
-
Unauthorized use of images, figures, or tables without attribution.
Consequences of Plagiarism:
-
Authors are notified and asked to address detected plagiarism.
-
Depending on severity, manuscripts may be rejected or returned for revision.
-
Repeated or serious cases may be reported to institutions or funding bodies.
-
Authors may face temporary or permanent bans on submission.
-
Post-publication, plagiarized articles may be retracted under JOPS’s correction and retraction policy.
Preventing Plagiarism:
Authors should:
-
Properly cite and reference all sources.
-
Attribute any quoted or paraphrased material.
-
Seek permission for copyrighted material.
-
Avoid self-plagiarism by referencing prior work.
-
Use plagiarism detection tools before submission.
Repository and Previously Published Material:
Authors submitting manuscripts derived from theses or repository materials must:
-
Cite and attribute the original repository source.
-
Ensure compliance with copyright and originality requirements.
-
Paraphrase reused material with proper attribution.
-
Clearly declare repository deposition during submission for transparent review.
Plagiarism Detection:
To maintain academic integrity, JOPS employs iThenticate to screen all submitted manuscripts twice — at initial submission and before acceptance — covering all stages of peer review and revision.
-
The acceptable similarity index must not exceed 20%.
-
This process safeguards authenticity and ensures the scholarly credibility of every article published.
