Semantic Relationships of the Field of Burning Events in the Holly Quran: A descriptive and Analytical Study

Abstract

This study, entitled "Semantic Relations of the Field of Burning Events in the Holy Qur’an: A Linguistic Study," aims to elucidate the rhetorical and miraculous dimensions of the Qur’anic systems by applying the modern linguistic theory of "Semantic Fields." The study addresses a central problematic that seeks to dismantle the claim of pure synonymy among Qur’anic words with convergent meanings, demonstrating the contextual specificity and distinctive features of each word. To achieve this objective, the study adopts a descriptive-analytical approach to trace the vocabulary falls under the main field (burning events) and classifies them into five subfields: (burning, ignition, ripening/cooking, melting, and boiling), while linking the lexicographical roots with contextual and interpretive evidence. The research concluded with several key findings, most notably: that the word choice in the Holy Qur’an is governed by ultimate precision that accounts for subtle distinctive features (such as intensity, manner, inherency, and the physical environment of the phenomenon). Furthermore, the study revealed a sequential dynamic structure governing the burning field from latency and friction to total extinction, thereby refuting the notion of spontaneous synonymy and confirming the profound verbal miracle in Qur’anic expression.
